The new clutch 4119 160 2001 (with clutch shoes clutch drum" assembly 4119 160 2050 will be supplied
without linings) and a new clutch drum with a in order to ensure easy replacement of the original

2. Drive tubes (FS 220, FS 280)
In future the drive shaft will be located and
supported inside the drive tube in a flexible
polymer liner instead of the previous arrange-
ment with six rubber-mounted bushes.
The flexible liner can be replaced if it wears.
Original and new versions of the complete
drive tubes are fully interchangeable.
Service note
When installing the new flexible liner it is important
to ensure that it is correctly oriented:
It is essential to install the flexible liner as shown
in the illustration on the right to make sure that it
cannot rotate along with the drive shaft . Looking
from the gear head end, the fins (see arrows)
must point to the left, i.e. counterclockwise.
The flexible liner is pushed into the drive tube
from the gear head end until it is flush with the ot-
her end of the drive tube (powerhead end).
Coat the drive shaft with STIHL multipurpose
grease (0781 120 1109) before sliding it into the
drive tube.

3. Starter cover
The aluminium nameplate 0000 967 2020
was replaced some time ago by the new, clip-in
version 0000 967 2032 made of polymer.
The round head rivet for securing the original
nameplate remains available as a spare.
Note:
The new nameplate can also be fitted in starter
covers which have the original nameplate. Before
fitting, check that the mounting holes are free from
burrs and deburr them if necessary.

4. Filter mat (special accessory)
An oil impregnated filter designed to retain extra
fine dust has been available for some time for
operation in extremely dusty conditions. This filter
consists of a fine-pored foam sheet and a coarse-
pored foam sheet which are bonded together.
It is installed in place of the standard auxiliary filter.
Each filter mat comes with illustrated installation
and cleaning instructions.

5. Control handle (FS 160 R)
The control handle was modified on model
FS 160 R clearing saws (version with loop handle)
from machine number X 27 390 596 in order to
further optimize the throttle trigger and interlock
lever functions: New versions of the throttle trigger
interlock (1), throttle trigger (2) and inner handle
molding (3) are now installed and an additional
torsion spring (4) is fitted on the throttle trigger.
The new versions of the throttle trigger interlock,
throttle trigger and inner handle molding can be
used as replacement parts (also as separate
items) for all previous versions of the control
handle. However, the additional torsion spring can
only be used in original-type control handles if it is
combined with the new throttle trigger and new
inner handle molding.
