Privacy
Privacy, kept minimal
This is an independent reference guide. We collect the least data needed to see what’s useful and improve it — and nothing more. No ads, no accounts, no newsletter, nothing sold or shared. There is no cookie banner because the guide itself sets no tracking cookies.
Analytics
We use two lightweight analytics tools: Umami, a privacy-first, cookieless tool that we self-host, and Vercel Web Analytics, which helps us understand basic page traffic on the hosting platform. Neither is an ad network, and neither is used to track you across other websites or build an advertising profile.
What it records, in aggregate:
- Page views — which pages and model families are popular.
- Anonymous click events in Umami — e.g. which chain or bar links are used, so we know what’s helpful.
- Coarse technical context — referrer, browser, operating system, device type, screen size, and an approximate country or region.
What it does not do:
- No tracking cookies are set by this guide.
- Umami uses your IP address momentarily to derive an approximate country, then discards it — it is never stored in our Umami database.
- No fingerprinting for advertising, and no selling of analytics data.
- Umami honors your browser’s Do Not Track signal — if it’s on, Umami analytics don’t run for you at all.
If you use an ad-blocker or block analytics scripts, the guide works exactly the same — nothing breaks, and you simply aren’t counted.
Affiliate links
Some outbound links to retailers (such as Amazon) are affiliate links: if you buy through them we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It never changes the specs we publish or what we recommend. Once you click through, that retailer’s own cookies and privacy policy apply — for example, Amazon’s.
Your choices
If you’d rather not be counted in our site analytics, switch analytics off for this browser below. The setting is saved locally on your device and applies only here; it tells Umami not to count you and tells Vercel Web Analytics to drop events before they are sent.
