1.=Ignition module

A new ignition module (EY-V) will be introduced
on model 084 saws from machine number
X 31 237 198.

The original version 1124 400 1306 (CDIC with

electronic speed governor) will be replaced by
version 1124 400 1308 (without electronic speed
governor). The new ignition module can be used
as a general replacement for all ignition versions

(for position of slot see illustration).

Features of new ignition module
• Defined cut-in RPM.
• Timing retarded during starting and

at idle RPM - for smoother idling behavior.
• Longer-burning spark (better flame
propagation compared to CDIC).

• Reliable combustion of fuel-air mixture
during starting.
• The air gap must be maintained exactly.

If it is too wide, proper ignition timing will not be P
reached.

In the event of a repair, the flywheel must be fitted
in slot "B" =for ignition modules without speed
cut-off, or slot "P"=for ignition modules with
electronic speed governor (CDIC).

Introduction of the EY-V ignition changes the cut-off
speed from the previous 12,250 rpm to a permissible
maximum speed of 12,500 rpm.

This specification refers to a saw with bar and
properly tensioned chain.

2.=HD air filter

Modified HD filters will be installed in model 084
saws from machine number X 31 237 198 .

The seal between the filter base and filter cover

has been optimized on the new HD filters.
The new version of the HD filter differs from the
original version (metal) in that it has an integrally

molded rubber cover and two peripheral sealing
lips made of rubber (elastomer).

The original gasket 1124 129 0900 mounted in the
filter base has been deleted.

Furthermore, the new HD filter provides a very
good retention rate on sites where there is a lot of
fine dust. The felt prefilter 0000 141 0300
is designed to sit firmly on the filter element.

• Impregnate with STIHL HD filter oil before
installing for first time.

Service notes

Gasket 1124 129 0900 must be removed from the
filter base before installing the new filter element.
Follow the fitting and maintenance instructions
when using HD filters. A detailed information sheet
is included with each HD filter kit.
