1. Fuel tank (grommet for fuel hoses,
mounting to fan housing)
2. FS 44: Gearhead
(gear ratio, output shaft;
standardizing parts, O-ring)
1.=Fuel tank
1.1=Grommet for fuel hoses
All hoses $ that pass through the tank wall are
held in position by grommet 0000 989 0516 % .
This change was implemented on the production A
line some time ago to improve functonality.
All fuel hoses were modified to coincide with the B
introduction of the grommet.

A
The pointed hose ends & used to simplify hose
assembly on the original tank have been replaced
by longer hoses with squared off ends ' .
B C
All modified parts can also be installed in older
models.

Service note
342TI007 KN
Lubricate grommet with a drop of oil before
inserting it in the tank wall. Then coat the hose with
oil and push it through the grommet and into the
tank. Pay attention to hose lengths.

1.2=Mounting to fan housing
The fuel tank and fan housing will be modified in
the area of their common mounting points in the
near future. This will make assembly easier.
A sleeve will be integrally molded to each of the
mounting bosses and the diameter of the mounting
holes in the tank will be increased accordingly.
If an unmodified tank is installed in a modified fan
housing, the holes in the tank have to be drilled out
to 7.5 mm (19/64 in.). Despite the limited
342TI008 KN
interchangability, this modification will be carried
out without changing the part numbers.
Each modified fan housing will be supplied with
instructions showing how to upgrade the fuel tank.
1.3=Note on spare parts
Both modifications have been made without
changing the part number of the fuel tank. For
this reason it is possible that either part may be
supplied as a replacement during the changeover
period, i.e. in the original version, with grommet
fitted, RU in the latest version.

2.===Gearhead =FS 44
2.1=Different gear ratio,
splined output shaft
A new gearhead with a different gear ratio will be
installed in place of the original version from
machine number X 34 090 160K=ft is rated to
handle the extra power between the engine and
cutting tool.
Furthermore, the connection (arrows) between the
output shaft and thrust plate/ thrust washer is spli-
ned on the new gearhead.

New gearheads will be supplied only together with
the new versions of the thrust plate and thrust
washer to guarantee easy interchangeability with
original machine and gearhead versions.

2.2=Standardizing parts with new models,
O-ring
In connection with the introduction of new models,
and in order to standardize parts, the gearhead
installed in new units will also be used as a replace-
ment for model FS 44. The RQO\ difference between
gearhead 4130 640 0101 (see 2.1) and the new
version is the lower ball bearing on the output shaft
(item 21 in 2.3). An uprated ball bearing is installed
in the new gearhead to match the higher power of
the new units.
The high-grade ball bearing 9503 003 5190 will be
supplied as a replacement for both gearheads. It
was used in the original gearhead 4130 640 0100.
On the new gearhead an O-ring is used to locate
the thrust plate on the output shaft, i.e. prevent it
342TI010 KN
slipping off the output shaft.
This O-ring will also be installed in the FS 44’s
standard gearhead in future. fo
