1.=Gearhead =aluminum housing

Modified gearheads will be installed in models
FS 160 and 180 from machine number X 33 829 391
and models FS 220 and 280 from machine number
X 33 466 044K=qhe gear housings are now made of
aluminum instead of a magnesium alloy.
Moreover, the area of the clamp has been modified
to further increase component strength.

As a result of this change the two washers
previously fitted in the clamp’s slot are no longer
required and have been deleted.
Aluminum housings can be identified by the

integrally cast letters >AL<.
The part numbers of the gearhead and gear

housing remain unchanged.

2.=Spacer plate =FS 280

It was not possible to fit the original spacer                   4119 120 1606
plate 4119 122 1700 when the modified air filter
4119 120 1606 (see TI 16.95) was introduced.
The spacer was therefore deleted. In the meantime
the FS 280 has been manufactured without a spa-
cer plate.
A new spacer plate 4119 122 1701 has been
installed from machine number X 34 009 593 to
further improve engine running behavior.

The contour of the new spacer plate matches the

flange face on air filter 4119 120 1606, but it can

also be installed in machines with the original air
filter.
