Dry HD air filter
The original HD air filter 0000 120 1650, which
needs to be impregnated with oil, will be replaced
by the new version 0000 120 1652.
A fleece filter material is used in the new HD filter.
This material provides excellent filtering efficiency
fo OIL
in the dry condition.
Filters with this fleece do not need to be im-
pregnated with oil.
The new filter is identified by the pictogram shown
in the illustration.
Cleaning intervals / procedure
When there is a noticeable loss of engine power
during cutting:

• Clean out the felt prefilter 0000 141 0300.
After cleaning the felt prefilter several times, or if
there is still a noticeable lack of power even
though the felt prefilter is clean:
• Remove felt prefilter from HD filter
(on 044, 064, 066, 084, also take foam
element 0000 124 0800 out of HD filter).
• Clean out the HD filter. If possible, blow out
carefully with compressed air from the clean
air side.
In case of stubborn dirt or caked filter fleece:
• Wash parts of filter in a clean, non-flammable
solution (e.g. warm soapy water).

Service life of filter
The special structure of the filter material greatly
enhances filtering efficiency. On the other hand,
it helps trap fine dirt particles, which can no longer
be removed by cleaning. The intervals between
cleanings become shorter after an extended
period of use. Filters should be replaced once the
intervals between cleanings are not long enough
for practical usage.
If the filter has been thoroughly cleaned after a
long period of operation and there is still a
noticeable loss of power during cutting, install a
new HD filter.
Note on installation
The inner foam element 0000 124 0800 included in
the scope of supply is only required for models
044, 064, 066 and 084. It must be removed from
the HD filter before it is installed in machines with
the new STIHL HD system (currently 046 and 088). fo

describes installation and cleaning procedures.
