1.=Carburetor
The original carburetor 1124 120 0608 (HT- 11D)
will be replaced by carburetor 1124 120 0650
(HT-12A). A limiter cap is fitted on both the high
speed and the low speed screws of the new
carburetor to restrict the range of adjustment.
Grommet 1124 123 7501 is included with the new
carburetor to ensure interchangeability with older
machines.

The limiter caps are pushed on to the heads of
the adjusting screws and held in position by the
knurling. The range of adjustment is limited by two
integrally molded lugs (see arrows).

1.2=Function of limiter caps
The limiter caps are designed to restrict
adjustments of the carburetor to a defined range
(210 degrees).

1.3=Repair / servicing
The limiter caps have to be removed in the service
shop to replace the adjusting screws or clean the
carburetor.
• Use suitable pliers to pull the limiter caps off
the + and / screws.

1.3.1===Adjustment after repair / servicing
1.3.1.1=Preparations
• Check air filter and clean or replace as
necessary.
• Check spark arresting screen and clean or
replace as necessary.
• Check chain tension.
1.3.1.2=Basic setting
• Starting with screws against their seats:
+=Open 1 full turn

1.3.1.3=Fitting limiter caps
• Always fit QHZ limiter caps.
Caps that have been removed once

• Fit cap for high speed screw so that it is
against ’rich’ stop (arrow). H L

Fit cap for low speed screw so that it is
against ’lean’ stop (arrow).

• Push limiter caps on to adjusting screws
until their are flush with the stop.
1.3.1.4=Adjusting idle speed
• Open low speed screw / one quarter turn LA
counterclockwise.
• Use idle speed screw /$ to set engine speed
to 2,500 rpm.
This adjustment must be checked with a
tachometer.

1.3.1.5=Checking running behavior
• Open throttle several times - check that engine
accelerates smoothly.
• Engine must run smoothly at idle speed.

1.4=Instructions for user
The user can adjust the carburetor screw within a
range of 210 degrees.
This enables the mixture to made leaner, if
necessary, for operation at high altitudes.

It is not necessary to enrich the mixture
beyond the limits specified by the EPA.

(chapter "Adjusting Carburetor").
1.5=Fuel =mix ratio
EPA approval was obtained with a fuel/oil mix ratio
of 50:1.
No emission measurements are available for other
mix ratios.

2.=Filter cover
Replacement filter cover 1124 141 0510 will be
supplied without the carburetor adjustment symbol
in future.
3.=Grommet
Modification of the grommet is necessary in
connection with the new carburetor introduced
above. The original grommet 1124 123 7500 will
be replaced by grommet 1124 123 7501. The new
version of the grommet will be supplied with
carburetor 1124 120 0650 in future.
