Muffler / shroud
From serial number 2 38 993 300 onwards,
the original muffler (1) and shroud (3) will be 1 2
replaced by new versions (2 and 4) and a modified
gasket (5).
The original and new versions of the parts
concerned can only be interchanged to a limited
extent (see Service Notes).

Muffler
The new mufflers (2) differ from the original
versions with regard to the following distinctive
features:
• Longer air outlet cowling (6) 3 4
• Deflector in front of the air outlet cowling (7)
• Screen (8; only on mufflers for USA, CDN,
AUS) is secured by a tab instead of a screw.
Shroud
The new shroud (4) differs from the original ver- 9

sion with regard to the following distinctive featu-
res:
• Larger outlet for exhaust gas (9)
• Modified cooling slits
• Elimination of the rib pointing towards the
muffler, together with the reflector foil mounted 5
on it (starter side)
Gasket for muffler
The shape of the gasket (5) has also been
optimized with modification of the shroud
(improved air guidance).

Service notes
Original and new parts can be interchanged in the
original machine versions subject to the following
conditions:
• If a muffler of the original type is replaced by a
muffler of the new type, the new gasket and
shroud must also be fitted.
• The new shroud and new gasket can also be
fitted independently in the original machine
versions.
