Model 026 Chainsaws - Series 1121
New 026 C version with quick chain tensioner
New versions of the 026 will be the first
professional chainsaws in the world to be
available with a quick chain tensioner.
The quick chain tensioner
• is operated with one hand
• enables the user to quickly and simply tension
the chain properly and lock the guide bar
without the need for any tools
• greatly simplifies maintenance work on the
cutting attachment
• increases operator convenience and reduces
maintenance costs by saving time
Saws with the quick chain tensioner are
designated "026 C". As on other versions and
models, the "C" stands for a convenience feature,
i.e. the quick chain tensioner in this case.

1. Description of function
• Turning the adjusting wheel (1) causes the
tensioning gear (2) to be rotated via the gear
teeth.
Rotation of the tensioning gear is converted
into in a linear movement of the guide bar
(via a spiral groove and guide elements).
• When the adjusting wheel is turned forwards in

the direction of the bar nose, the guide bar
moves forwards and tensions the chain.
•
Turning the adjusting wheel counterclockwise
(backwards) causes the guide bar to move 3
backwards and slacken off the saw chain. 2
• The wingnut (3) is used to lock the guide bar in 4
position. The handle (4) is folded out to tighten
the wingnut by hand. When folded flush, teeth 5
(5) on the handle are designed to engage the
teeth (6) on the chain sprocket cover and help

prevent the wingnut working loose.

2. New parts and modifications to
existing parts
Model 026 C saws with quick chain tensioner are
equipped with a modified crankcase.
Machines without a quick chain tensioner can be
backfitted only if the crankcase is replaced at the
same time.
For this reason there is no "quick chain tensioner
conversion kit".
• The guide bar is now secured in position only
with the center collar screw (1).
• The two collar screws (2) help prevent the
guide bar twisting.
• The hardened steel side plate (3) and the two
bumper strips (4) help protect the crankcase

from excessive wear.
• An integrally molded guide ledge (arrow) on 3

the new cover eases assembly of the chain
sprocket cover. This cover can also be used

as a replacement for all other versions of the 1

024 and 026 (see "New replacement parts").
The tensioning gear is secured to the guide bar
with an M4x10 hexagon nut.
The adjusting wheel, wingnut and the teeth of
the locking element are integrated in the chain
sprocket cover.
