1. Introduction of compensator
For some markets, excluding the United States,
model 038 chainsaws will be equipped with a
compensator type carburetor. Some carburetor and
air filter spare parts for previous models sold in the
U.S. will receive a design change due to the
introduction of this feature in other countries.
In this connection the previous carburetor
48A101B has been replaced by the new version
48A101C which has an end cover with a connecting

stub for the compensator.
The adjusting screws on the new carburetor are
each sealed with an O-ring.
The previous and new versions of the adjusting
screws and springs are not interchangeable.
Baffle (14) 1127 121 7000 will be available in the
near future as a spacer between carburetor and air 14
filter. This change improves the function of the
choke shutter.
1.1 Notes on replacement parts

The previous versions of the air filter assemblies, air
filter halves and grommet will remain available as
replacements for machines without a compensator
carburetor.
The previous end cover (without compensator
connection) will also be included with the new
replacement carburetor (with end cover for
compensator) so that the carburetor can be used as
a universal replacement. The previous adjusting
screws and springs remain available as spares.
1.2 Service note
To install a replacement carburetor in a machine
without a compensator connection on the air filter,
remove the end cover with connecting elbow (4) and
fit end cover (3) (supplied with carb) in its place.
In future, the air filter halves for machines without
compensator will also have a connecting elbow, but
