1. Carburetor with
balanced idle system
A new handle frame and new engine housing
(already available for model 018 chainsaws) will
also be installed in this connection. The previous
handle frame 1130 791 4900 will be replaced by
LD version 1130 791 4901, the previous engine
housing 1130 020 3001 will be replaced by version
1130 020 3002. On the new versions there will be
only one location to guide the screwdriver for
carburetor adjustments.

(BIS carburetor only has a LD screw).
A BIS carburetor will be installed in model 017
chainsaws from serial number 2 44 076 105 in
order to further standardize parts. This carburetor is
already used in the STIHL 018 (see TI 42.98).
The previous carburetor 1130 120 0600 will be
replaced by version 1130 120 0601.

2. Cylinder with piston
Two piston rings will be installed in model 017
chainsaws from serial number 2 44 076 105 in
order to standardize parts inventories.
Piston with cylinder 1130 020 1204 will be supplied
as a replacement instead of the previous piston with
cylinder 1130 020 1200. The part number of the
piston remains unchanged.
The new version of the cylinder has been modified
to take the new ignition module (see 4).

The previous crankshaft 1132 030 0400 will be
replaced by crankshaft 1132 030 0401 from serial
number 2 43 542 535.
Needle sleeves with a strengthened cage are
installed with this new crankshaft to further extend
bearing life.

Technical Information 05.2000 Page 3 4. Ignition system Ignition module 1130 400 1302 will be installed from serial number 2 44 076 105 to coincide with the change described under 1. This new ignition module achieves a longer spark duration and, therefore, better acceleration. The installation of the new ignition module and the process of standardizing parts with model 018 also necessitates replacing the flywheel, ground wire, cable retainer and short circuit wire with new versions. The previous versions of the parts remain available as replacements for machines with fixed-jet carburetors.
