1.    New Sales Designations for
      E 140 and E 180 C

Models E 140 and E 180 C will be renamed
STIHL MSE 140 and STIHL MSE 180 C to bring
them into line with the new naming structure (see
TI 25.2000).

                                                                     New spare parts for MSE 140 and MSE 180 C
                                                                     The new saws are based on models E 140 and
                                                                     E 180 C. Different parts in the new machines are
                                                                     described in the ’Summary’.

                                                                     The next issues of the microfiche and CD-ROM
                                                                     (01.2002) include the parts list for MSE 140 and
                                                                     MSE 180 C.

The lines (1) marked on the inside of the housing

show exactly how the wiring has to be routed. This
helps simplify installation and avoid mistakes.

3.    Air Guide Ring

                                                       181TI019 KN

A new air guide ring is now used in models MSE 140
and MSE 180 C.

In order to install this new air guide ring in one of the
previous models E 140 and E 180 C, it is necessary
to use side cutters to remove the shaded portion as

shown in the illustration.
This procedure is described in instruction sheet
0457 360 0016.

4.    Service Note

Refer to the shop manual for models E 140 and
E 180 C for servicing and repair procedures on
models MSE 140 and MSE 180 C. Service
accessories, special tools and servicing aids are
listed in the shop manual.
