When fuel is drawn from the tank, a slight vacuum is
initially created in the tank. This causes the
diaphragm to lift off the valve plate. The valve
opens. Air flows into the fuel tank and equalizes the
pressure on both sides of the diaphragm.
4 The valve closes when the atmospheric air and tank
pressure are equal.
