  1. STIHL MS 180 C with Easy2Start 1.1 Function

A new additional version of the STIHL MS 180 C
with Easy2Start is now available to make starting
distinctly more convenient. A helical spring stores
the energy generated when pulling the starter rope
and transfers it to the engine via carriers.
This yields the following advantages for the user:
  . Low starting speed:
The speed needed for pulling the starter rope is
       reduced by approx. 60%.
  . Less effort:
The maximum effort needed to start the engine
is reduced by approx. 50%. A spring housing (1) with spring (2) and two
carriers (3) is installed between rope rotor and
flywheel (4). Force F1 which builds up when the

chainsaw models MS 180 or MS 180 C. against the force F2 which is applied by the
                                                          piston (5) during compression.
When the torque of the prestressed spring exceeds
the resultant torque of force F2, the crankshaft turns
                                                          and the engine starts.
