1. STIHL AUTOCUT® C 25-2

However, the new mowing head is designed so that
the spool can be removed from the mowing head
and wound with nylon line by hand, as in the case of
the STIHL AUTOCUT® 25-2.
Both methods of replenishing nylon line are
described in the supplement enclosed with the
mowing head.
The method described in the supplement for filling
the mowing head from the outside is also included
in section 1.5.4 of this Technical Information bulletin.
The individual parts of the mowing head are listed in
section 1.6 "Spare parts".
1.1 Nylon line
In series production, the new mowing head is filled
with round "quiet" nylon line with a diameter of
0.095 in. When wound by hand, the spool can

1.2 Permissible brushcutters and deflectors Important!

to the deflector in order to ensure that the proper line
length is maintained.

The STIHL AUTOCUT® C 25-2 mowing head may
only be used on the following machines with

1.4 Adjusting nylon line
The STIHL AUTOCUT® C 25-2 is a semi-automatic
mowing head; the length of nylon line is adjusted
during operation.
. Open the throttle fully.
. Hold the rotating mowing head so that it is
parallel to the overgrown surface, then tap the
ground to release approx. 11/4 in of nylon line.
Any excess length is cut to the optimum length
by the knife on the deflector. For this reason, do
not tap the ground several times in succession!

Always examine the mowing head for signs of wear During normal operation, the supply of nylon line in

Since scraps may impair operation of the mowing
head, they must be removed before filling the

For this purpose:
. Switch off the engine (switch off ignition).
. Lay the brushcutter down with the mowing head
facing upwards.
1.5.3 Close the mowing head
The complete mowing head must be replaced if it
shows the distinctive signs of wear illustrated in the
diagram.
1.5.1 Open the mowing head
. To close the mowing head, align the symbols (1)
on the spool as accurately as possible with the
sleeves (2).
. Pull both ends of the nylon line after closing the
mowing head.
1.5.4 Fill the mowing head from the outside
The procedure illustrated below is an abridged
version of that described in the supplement
enclosed with the mowing head.
The STIHL AUTOCUT® C 25-2 is opened in the
same way as the AUTOCUT® 25-2 mowing head.
. Press the indicated points and lift the cover off
at the same time.
