The MS 460 rescue saw will be shipped with the 1.1 Chain Construction
new 3/8" Rapid Duro R chain in the future. The new
Rapid Duro R has a yellow label.
An cover is now fitted on the chain sprocket cover.
1. New 3/8" Rapid Duro R Chain
The previous Rapid Duro S (36 RDS)
3949 000 0072 has been replaced by the new
Rapid Duro R (36 RDR) 3944 000 0072.
A triple-humped tie strap (1) is installed on the
opposite side of the chain in front of every cutter.
1.2 Applications
Primarily for special applications – trained and
experience personnel in rescue services, e.g.fire
and emergency services, etc.
Edge life
The longer edge life and smoother cutting
performance of the new 3/8" Rapid Duro R are due
to the impact-resistant carbide tips which are brazed
over a large area to the top plate in a special
process.

Bottom: Rapid Duro R
On the new chain the cutting edges are tipped with
high impact-resistant carbide. Large-area brazing of
the carbide tipping to the top plates further
increases strength.
The new 3/8" Rapid Duro R features STIHL’s
patented Oilomatic system of lubrication.
