The tensioning gear (2) is turned via a gearing when
the adjusting wheel (1) is turned.
When the adjusting wheel is turned forward –
towards the bar nose – the guide bar also moves
forward (to tension the chain).
When the adjusting wheel is turned in the opposite
direction, the guide bar moves back and the chain is
relaxed.
The wing nut (3) secures the guide bar. The wing
nut is tightened by hand by means of the hinged
handle (4). When folded down, the teeth (5) of the
handle (4) engage the gearing (6) in the sprocket
cover and prevent the wing nut from working loose.

Most of these PDFs embed fonts with a shifted character map, so the text above was recovered rather than copied — read it as a faithful but imperfect transcription, and treat the page image above each block as the authority where the two disagree — the figures exist only there, because they are vector drawings that text extraction cannot keep.
