The stud driver permits fast and trouble-free
M8 - 7.5 M8 - 9.5
insertion of the studs. The stud drivers are not
suitable for stud removal.
Three versions are available:

When being screwed in, the end of the stud rests
against the conical surface of the stud driver. The
conical supporting surface permits transmission of a
high tightening torque and, at the same time, a low

If the housing is cracked or completely destroyed in
the vicinity of the threads, the repair stud cannot be
used. Instead, the entire engine housing must be
replaced.

the stud driver 5910 890 3000 (M8-7.5).
Use the stud driver 5910 890 3002 for M10 studs.
When inserting the studs, the stud driver must not 1
be seated on the shaft.

. Position the repair stud by hand so that it
engages the existing thread.
. Using the stud driver (1), insert the repair stud
perpendicular to the supporting surface and
tighten it.
. Unscrew the stud driver.
The use of Loctite is not recommended with the
repair studs in polymer engine housings.
The following table shows with which chain saws the
repair studs can be used and the necessary
tightening torques. The repair stud is 1 mm larger in
diameter than the diameter of the standard stud.
No repair solution is offered for unlisted chain saws.

3. Change in thread-locking
adhesive with magnesium
housings
Studs with metric threads are used with chain saws
with magnesium crankcases. With the series listed
below, the thread-locking adhesive is being
switched from the previous Loctite 243 (USA 242)
to Loctite 270:
MS 341, MS 361, MS 362, MS 381
MS 440, MS 441, MS 460
MS 650, MS 660
MS 780, MS 880
. Before reassembly of the stud, clean both
threads (insert tap in the internal thread by hand
and then blow out the threaded hole, brush off
the exterior thread).
. Coat the cleaned stud with Loctite 270.
